Lela began acting while attending UC Berkeley. She was a double major in Rhetoric and Drama, until she realized she could get out of school faster if she only had one major. Opting to finish school quickly, Lela focused on Rhetoric and finished college in 3 years while still acting in plays and taking drama classes. Immediately after graduating, Lela was cast in two independent films; "Yellow" by Chris Chan Lee and "Shopping For Fangs" co-directed by Justin Lin and Quentin Lee. These two films were considered ground-breaking in Asian-American film. Lela was proud and priveleged to be involved in both films. Lela continues to act. She played series regular "Jodi Chang" on the SciFi series "Tremors." She was also the recurring surgical intern Bonnie on "Scrubs." She has guest starred on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," as the angry lesbian girlfriend who threw Larry David up against the wall. Lela played Student Nurse Ping on "Will & Grace." She has also appeared on "Charmed," "Friends," "Felicity," and "Rude Awakenings" among others. Lela has also appeared in several national commercials for American Express, JC Penney, Wendy's, H&R Block, etc. |
